Avoid the dogs.

6-10-11
It has been really hot during the day the last few days—more than usual, since I’ve been here anyways.  Before, it would be colder and cloudy in the morning, but now it has been sunny with blue skies.  So when I go to Muñequitos to play with the kids, the sun is intense and I can only be in the sun for so long.  Today was “picture day” at Muñequitos.  They didn’t do individual pictures, but they (and I) took pictures of the two individual classes, and then the teachers.  It was impossible to get them all to calm down, keep their hands out of their mouths/faces, and look at the camera.  We tried!  Later in the afternoon, we held classes of English for older children and this class was really fun and rewarding.  Instead of just “teaching” English, it was set up as a conversational table with two girls who impressed me by their English knowledge!  It was very laid-back and consisted of us getting to know the girls and vice versa.  I’m looking forward to working more with these girls.  After dinner, Zack and I made some brownies (for his past birthday) and ate ice cream…this was a great change because people just don’t eat dessert here!  Just a side note: the dogs here during the night are evil.  You do not ever really pet dogs (fleas, and because they’re dangerous at night).  So, when walking at night, a person tries to walk in the middle of the road to avoid dogs on the sidewalks.
